Mentor Opportunities
CIS invites you to be a role model and friend to a student enrolled in a school dropout prevention program. Mentors help develop students’ talents and abilities by being good listeners, encouraging successes, introducing new opportunities, and helping students set goals.
CIS has openings for caring adult personal mentors to students in sixth
through twelfth grades in Allentown and Easton. Mentors need an ability to relate to pre-teens and teenagers and a willingness to commit 3 hours per week. Consistency and reliability are keys to a successful mentor / protégé relationship. A sense of humor and patience in generous measure are also important ingredients.
The application process includes a Criminal Record Check (Act 34), PA Child Abuse Clearance (Act 33), and 3-year driving record clearance. CIS assumes the cost of clearance applications. Personal references are also required for evidence of good character, communication skills, and dependability.
For more information or to request an application call Gale Siess at 610-969-3822 or email siessg@cislv.org.
